Fun Run
The Peach Days Fun Run will be Sept. 8 at 7 a.m. with a walk (one mile) and a 5K or 10K run. Pre-registration forms are available at Ferron City Hall or at www.ferroncity.org. There is a $5 fee unless you are involved with Emery High School Cross Country. Meet at the old church park (across from the Grub Box). For more information call Tracie Urie at 384-2994.
Blood Drive
A Huntington Community Blood Drive will be held at the Old City Hall, 40 North Main Street, in Huntington on Sept. 10 from 2-7 p.m. To schedule your appointment or for more information call Chris Christensen at Zions Bank at 687-2425.
Castle Valley Youth Leadership Summit
Calling all youth ages 14-18 from all counties. Register for the Castle Valley Youth Leadership Summit “Your Attitude is Your Window to the World.” This fun one day event is held at Emery High School on Sept. 22. Check in at 8:30 a.m. with many choices of informative workshops, games, service projects, a dance and grand prize of a computer or Ipod.
Enjoy inspirational speaker Nicole Nolton from Rachel’s Challenge and survivor of Columbine. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served. Register by Sept. 7 and receive a free T-shirt or hoody. Little League
Volleyball
Sign ups for Emery County Girls Little League Volleyball will be Sept. 5 at the Emery County Recreation building from 4-7 p.m. The cost is only $20. Youth in 4th and 5th grades will learn skill building and 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will play regular games. If you have any questions call Trinidi Price at 384-3027 or Sue McNee at 749-0045.
Peach Days
The Ferron Youth City Council will be having their annual “Parade Your Pet” show in correlation with Peach Days on Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. It will be held at Mayor’s Park. All children are invited to take part. Costumes on pets are encouraged but not necessary. Entry forms are located at Ferron City Hall or will be available that evening.
On Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Mayor’s Park Ferron will host a peach dessert contest and talent show. All dessert entrees must be at the park by 7 p.m. to be judged. Everyone will then be given a chance to eat the desserts along with ice cream while we enjoy local talent. Anyone can participate in the talent show. It will be an open microphone night. There will be a piano available along with a sound system for participants.
Ferron City is also now accepting entry forms for the Peach Days Parade. It will be held on Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. All entry forms are due to Ferron City by noon on Sept. 7 if you wish to be included in the parade. Parade entry forms are available at Ferron City Hall or at www.ferroncity.org. Everyone is invited to take part.
Lastly, Ferron City is encouraging all miners to participate in their 2007 Peach Days Parade as honored citizens. All miners need to be at the parade line-up by 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 to ride in the parade. Travel up Canyon Road (300 South), turning right on 800 West and then turning right on Mill Road (100 North) For more information about anything having to do with Peach Days call Ferron City Hall at 384-2350.
Crandall Canyon Family Support Fund and Rescue Support Fund
Free Spaghetti Dinner at the Emery Town Recreation Center, 100 N. 100 W. It will take place Monday, Sept. 10 from -8 p.m.. All Donations will go to The Crandall Family Support Fund and or The Rescue Support Fund. For more information call Eric at 435-286-2225.
Memorial
Concert
The Utah Symphony will hold a Memorial Concert at Emery High School on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to share in the joy and comfort of beautiful music. No donations will be accepted.
Benefit Barrel Race
There will be a benefit barrel race for the miners and their families of the Crandall Canyon Mine Collapse on Sept. 8 at the Castle Dale Indoor Arena at 11 a.m.
Open 4D $40 fee $1000 added. 18/40 4D $20 fee (Must be under 18 or over 40 to enter).

Utah Power Credit Union Fund
Raising Efforts
Utah Power Credit Union will be working with the Huntington City Mayor’s office to help coordinate fundraising efforts for the families of the trapped miners and rescue crews in the Crandall Canyon mine. Utah Power Credit Union, with an office in Huntington and a significant membership base in Carbon and Emery Counties, will be donating $5,000 to begin fundraising efforts. “These miners are not only our members, they are our friends. They are our community and we will do everything we can to help to support them,” says Kaylene Pearson, Utah Power Credit Union Huntington Branch Manager. ATV and Golf
Adventure
Emery County and Utah State Parks is sponsoring the Millsite Front 9, Green River Back 9 Golf and ATV Adventure on Sept. 28-30. On Sept. 28 participants will play nine holes of golf at Millsite Golf Course and camp overnight at Millsite State Park. On Sept. 29 participants will take a 100 mile ATV ride from Ferron to Green River State Park. Trucks and trailers for your ATVs will be moved by the Emery County Sheriff;s Office and Posse members to Green River State Park.
Once in Green River participants will camp overnight at Green River State Park and on Sept. 30 will have the opportunity to play nine holes of golf at Green River Golf Course. The cost for the event is $80 for two nights of camping and the shuttle of one vehicle from Millsite to Green River and $30 for 18 holes of golfing per person. This adventure is limited to 60 ATVs. Soldiers Addresses Needed
American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan.
The Legion has a program called “Operation Home Support” which sends packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County Residents with the name and addresses of your loved ones that are serving.

Bible Study
