Dale “Bird” Black
HUNTINGTON- Dale Ray Black, age 48, died August 16, 2007 in a coal mine accident trying to rescue fellow miners trapped in the Crandall Canyon Mine disaster.
He was born August 24, 1958 in Price to Roscoe and Earlene Allred Black.
Married Wendy Sitterud on September 18, 1982.
“Bird” loved life. His wife and children were the most important things in his world. He loved to 4 wheeler ride, hunt, fish, and golf. The mountains and desert will never be the same without him. He loved everybody and they loved him. Selflessly Dale was dedicated to finding his fellow workers and to our misfortune died a hero in that effort. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Black; niece, Jera Lynn McDonald; father-in-law, Douglas Sitterud.
Funeral service for family and friends, Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., Little Bear Creek Campground in Huntington Canyon. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the campground Tuesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.

Harvey Kent Ferguson
PRICE, UT/LYMAN, WY: Harvey Kent Ferguson, age 62, was called home on August 17, 2007 at the Castleview Hospital after a valiant 15 year battle with a lingering illness, never giving up hope that he would talk and walk again.
Harv was born July 3, 1945 in Price, UT, to George L. Ferguson and Elizabeth (Harvey) Ferguson. He married his life-long sweetheart Lorraine Fausett June 19, 1965 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Harv loved life and had many friends. Harv lived for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, and trap shooter. He also enjoyed bowling and billiards. Harv loved to travel and took his family on many trips enjoying all of his hobbies. Some highlights of his life were fishing in Alaska and obtaining his pilot’s license.
Harv was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and he loved them very much.
Harv is survived by his devoted wife, Lorraine, of Price, UT; 3 children: Lorri Barney (Parker), Ogden, UT; Jace H. Ferguson (Teri), Logan, UT; Darrin W. Ferguson (Sabrina), Martinez, CA; 16 grandchildren; his mother, Elizabeth Ferguson, Sunnyside, UT; a brother, Randal Ferguson (Alice), Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Liz Ferguson, East Carbon City, UT; and many loving extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, George L. Ferguson; 2 brothers: LeRay Ferguson and Bruce Ferguson (infant).
A viewing will be held at the Lyman LDS Chapel, 127 N. Main, Lyman, WY, on Monday August 20, 2007 from 7:00-9:00 in the evening and from 9:45-10:45 the following morning prior to the services. Funeral services will be held August 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lyman LDS Chapel.
Graveside services and interment will be Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cliffview Cemetery, Price, UT, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.

Willard LaVell Van Wagoner
WELLINGTON: Willard LaVell Van Wagoner passed away peacefully in his home in Wellington, Utah, age 75 on 8/18/07.
He was born 4/13/32 in Wellington to Elden Horace Van Wagoner and Sarah Jane Pinegar. He married Marilyn Mead in the Manti Temple on 10/8/54.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was raised in Wellington, and served his country in the Korean Conflict where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart.
He received his Bachelors from BYU in 1959. He worked in the Finance Dept. of the LDS Church, wherein he filled the post as Financial Coordinator of the British Isles for 3 years in England, and later served as Church Fleet Administrator. He was an avid genealogist, loved hunting and camping with his family, dutch oven dinners, woodworking, and had a wonderful tenor voice that filled our hearts. We will fondly remember water fights, games, fun, wise counsel, father’s blessings, and love.
He is survived by his eternal sweetheart: Marilyn Mead, children: Max & Anita (Mesa AZ), Kara & Jeff Hunt (Mesa AZ), Gerret & Myrna (Bountiful UT), Martin & Lori (Hyrum UT), Traci & Kurt Keller (NY NY), Valyn & Chad Tucker (West Haven UT), Jeanine & Bart Gardiner (Saratoga Springs UT), Wendy & Matt Horton (Palo Alto CA), 27 Grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren 1 gg granddaughter, and 2 brothers Robert and Fred.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Enid, Reed, Gerald, Shirley & Ray.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 8/21/07 at 11:00 am at the Wellington Stake Center, 935 E. Main, Wellington, UT. Visitation will be Monday 6 to 8 pm at the Fausett Mortuary ,680 E 100 S in Price, and then 10 am Tuesday at the Church prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Wellington Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.

Robert “Bob” Seely
GREEN RIVER – Robert “Bob” Seely, age 85, died August 15, 2007 in Green River, Utah.
He was born March 29, 1922 in Spring Canyon, Utah the fifth of six children born to Joseph and Florence Amelia Shiner Seely. He married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Louise Wilson, on November 19, 1941 in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized on May 21, 1966 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Robert’s family moved to Green River in 1932, where he attended school and graduated from Green River High school in 1940. Following high school, he went to work for the Denver & Rio Grande Rail Road where he worked for them for 44 years. He lived in Emery and Carbon Counties while working on the railroad before settling in Green River in 1957. Following his retirement in 1983 from the railroad, he and his wife enjoyed the golden years together. He was a member of the LDS church, Jeep Possey, Railroad Association, and was very active in the Green River community. He never met a stranger and was known as uncle or grandpa “Bob” to the young children in the community. Some of his hobbies included; hunting, railroading, electrician work, raising roses, vegetable gardening, and exploring the desert. He loved to whistle, music, dancing, dogs, horses, and genealogy. He was very proud of his family heritage and loved to tell stories. His greatest joy was his family and his wife of 65 years.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Green River, Utah; Three children, Robert L (Melinda) Seely of Salt Lake City, Utah; Jeanny Louise Seely of Craig, Colorado; and Keith Leon (Debbie) Seely of Denver, Colorado; One brother, Norman Richard (Sharon) Seely of Green River, Utah; A sister-in-law, Anita Gifford of Fruita, Colorado; twelve grandchildren, Frank, Scott, Christine, Misty, Monica, Monique, Maria, Michelle, Kara, Matt, Nick, and Brittany; fifteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J. Hawley Seely; and William Seely; and two sisters, Beulah Seely Bohleen; and Jane Stott.
Funeral services were August 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Green River LDS Chapel, 95 N. Clark Street (100 east). Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
 
Charlie Saccomanno
SPRING GLEN- Charlie Saccomanno, age 93, passed away August 13, 2007 at home with his family by his side.
He was born July 26, 1914 in Spring Glen, Utah to Ralph and Maria Theresa Potestio Saccomanno.
Married Grace Tallerico, January 16, 1938 in Price; she passed away on December 12, 2001.
Charlie was a fun loving, kind hearted man who was known by many and loved by all who met him. He always felt he had no enemies and he was very proud of that fact. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his first love was for family and his farm. Charlie enjoyed taking care of his many animals and growing fruits and vegetables to share with neighbors and friends. He pedaled fruit all over Carbon County for years and met many wonderful people on his way.
When his son and grandsons were young he never missed any of their sporting events and he also coached Pony League in his younger years. He was the meter reader for the Spring Glen Water Company for 38 years and worked in the coal mines for over 40 years. Charlie was a proud union member and a retired member of the U.M.W.A. Local # 8622.
Member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Charlie was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and in 2005 he was honored as the Grand Marshall of Spring Glen Days. Member of Price Elk’s Lodge # 1550. He will be dearly missed by his family, many friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Mary Colombo, Carmella Priano; brothers, Joe, Jim, Armond; and his son-in-law, Frank Greco.
Charlie is survived by four daughters and one son, Marie (Cort) Lodder, Kaysville, Toni Greco, Rose Park, Carole (Seldon) Barker, Spring Glen, Valerie Stamatakis, Price, Ralph (Mickey) Saccomanno, Spring Glen; sisters, Gemma Larcher and Pauline Lapore; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was August 18, 2007 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. Committal service was in the Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Anthony Catholic Church.

LaVon W. Foster
“Together Again”
Price – LaVon (Vonnie) W. Foster, age 96, passed away at home, on August 12, 2007 in Price, Utah. She was born September 23, 1910 in Ferron, Utah to James P. Westenskow and Olive Ann Rhodes. She married Nephi Layton Foster, December 5, 1930 in Castle Dale, Utah.
LaVon loved crossword puzzles, gardening, quilting, collecting frogs, and making magnets out of various things.
She is survived by her three daughters: Shirley (Ted) Fausett of Price, Utah; Jeanie (Doyl – “Mac”) McDoniel of Price, Utah; and Elaine (Robert) Anthony of Laughlin, Nevada; Sisters: Dora Wilson; and Jeneal Gardner both of Farmington, Utah; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Nephi Layton Foster; baby daughter, Vonna Lee; and Sons, Layton and Bruce; and several grandchildren.
Graveside Services were August 15, 2007 at the Price City Cemetery, 595 E 400 N. Burial was in the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
