Honor Choir Inspires

The Castle Country Activities Association presented the annual Junior High Honor Choir Concert on April 1 at Emery High School. Composed of students from five schools in the Castle Valley area, the concert was directed this year by Alan Scott, who directs the men’s and women’s choruses, the A Cappella Choir, Madrigal Choir, Hand Bell Choir and a Select Women’s Choir at Murray High School.
The Junior High Honor Choir performed a variety of numbers for the audience of family and friends after two long and extensive days of practice to meld the best voices of the junior highs into one choir. Participating choirs were composed of: Canyon View Junior High, David Bird - director; Helper Junior High, Allen Hughes - director; Mont Harmon Junior High, Steve Hoyt - director; Pinnacle Canyon Academy, Kay Fox - director; and San Rafael Junior High, Hans Baantjer - director.

Emery FBLA member compete in Ogden

Eighteen students of Emery High School’s Future Business Leaders of America gathered in Ogden with more than 1,300 other FBLA members from schools throughout Utah to compete in the State FBLA-PBL competition on April 1-2 in the David Eccles Conference Center at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Ogden.
Bright and early on the morning of April 1, FBLA members crammed into the ballroom of the David Eccles Center for opening ceremonies, following which the competition began. When all was said and done Emery High placed in six events: Cade Whittle, Carson Fillmore, and McKay Allred took 4th place as a team in Banking and Finance; Mindi Luke took 8th place in Word Processing 1; Chelsea Smith took 3rd in Principles and Procedures; Colton Leavitt took 9th in Accounting 1, and Nicole Smith took 2nd in Future Business Leader and 3rd in Utah State Who’s Who in FBLA.
