Emil Giraud
PRICE-Emil Giraud, age 83, passed away April 6, 2008 at his home in Price.
He was born May 22, 1924 in Price, Utah to Peter and Catherine Larralde Giraud.
He married Helen Lorraine Lampshire, August 1, 1946 in Price, she died November 17, 2007.
Emil honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. during World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses and gardening. He was a lifelong resident of Carbon County where he owned and operated Giraud Plumbing for many years. Emil also worked for Price City and retired with 20 years of service.
Survived by three sons, Gary L. (Geri) Giraud, Maple Valley, WA; Mike Giraud, Layton; Jerry (Loni) Giraud, Price; grandchildren, Gary Dean (Jodi), Brandon (Jenny), Michelle (Jeremy), Gena, Michael, Jennifer (Ray), Jeremy, and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Kerissa, Gavin, Joey, Taylor, Jacob, Cayla, Mackenzie, Serenitie; and sister, Jean Munk, Salt Lake City.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons, James and Greg; brother Pete; and a sister, Katie Hansen.
A gathering was held for family and friends on Saturday, April 12, 2008 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Greenwell Inn, 655 East Main Street. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.

Antoinette Andreini
HELPER-Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, Antoinette Andreini, age 82, passed away April 7, 2008 at her home.
She was born June 13, 1925 in Price, Utah to Antonio and Maria Sellaro Pinarelli.
She married Rudolph Andreini, May 25, 1946 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper, he passed away on November 8, 1997.
Antoinette was a devoted member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and she was very proud of her faith. She loved to cook, crochet, spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her extended family. She was a past member of the Price Ladies of Elks and the local bowling leagues. She enjoyed camping and boating with her family. Antoinette was dearly loved by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, LeRay Andreini, Salt Lake City; daughter, Clea (Greg) Cowan, Helper; grandchildren, Mike (Ann) Andreini, Felicia (Shane) New, both of Salt Lake City, Melissa Andreini, Helper, Bianca (Guy) Dumas, Salt Lake City, Chris (Austin) Cowan, Helper; brother, Leo Pinarelli, Provo; sister, Mary Scavo, Helper; six great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Jay, sam, Joe and John; sisters, Tressa Ferrarelli and Rose Passarella.
Memorial Mass, was Saturday, April 12, 2008, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Family received friends at the church Saturday one hour prior to the Mass. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.

Adeline Maffei Elegante
“Never Give Up”
HELPER-The matriarch of our family, Adeline M. Elegante, passed away April 9, 2008 while surrounded by her family. She is finally resting peacefully at 97 years young.
She was born December 1, 1910 in Mulberry, Kansas, one of eleven children of John and Adeline Senechal Maffei. She spent her youth as a farm girl in Kansas, and this set the stage for the rest of her life as a “hard working woman”.
On May 3, 1930 she married the love of her life, Charles Lawrence Elegante, and together they raised four children. Mom and Dad spent time in Montana, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, until retirement brought them back home to Spring Canyon. On October 28, 1979, Charles passed away.
Mom, your moto to “Never Give Up” gave you the strength to live your life to the fullest. Let us thank you for giving us the inspiration to do the same. We love you and will never forget you.
Adeline is survived by three children, John Elegante, Charmaine Elegante, both of Helper, Charles (Teri) Elegante, Jr, Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 5 great- great- grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and her guardian angel, Anita.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Fredrick Elegante; brothers and sisters, Arthur, John B., John J., Blanche, Mary, Barbara, Phyllis Losik, Bertha Elegante, Violet Kovasich, Julia Attkisson; daughters-in-law, Katherine and Helen Elegante; and great-granddaughter, Mary Rose Nielsen.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 17, 2008, 10:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper.
Vigil service, Wednesday evening 7:00 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery.

Ruth Preston Quinn
EAST CARBON-Ruth DeLane Preston Quinn, age 75, passed away April 9, 2008.
She was born November 25, 1932 in Castle Gate, Utah to Ralph and Hilda Latturner Preston.
She married Dean Elmer Quinn, October 22, 1956 in Dragerton, Utah; he died June 24, 1982.
Ruth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a very simple person who always put others first. She enjoyed family gatherings and cross-stitching table cloths for her family and friends.
Survived by her sons, Lamar Dean Quinn, Floyd Ross Quinn, Price; brothers, Lamar (Lynda) Preston, Ronald “Ronnie” Preston, both of East Carbon; sisters-in-law, Elma Preston, East Carbon, Faye Preston, Albuquerque, NM; grandsons, Joseph and Logan; and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Herbert, Bill, Ralph, George, Samuel and a sister, Betty.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Carbonville Cemetery.

Ruth Shannon
CARBONVILLE-Our loving mother and sister, Ruth Jensen Shannon, age 70, passed away April 10, 2008 at her home.
She was born July 2, 1937 in Orangeville, Utah to Leonard C. and Eunice Hambrick Jensen.
She married Charles W. Shannon, July 24, 1967 in Lander, Wyoming; he preceded her in death on September 12, 2000.
Ruth was a member of The Trinity Christian Center of Price. She was a loving child of God, who shared a deep faith in the Lord. She was a gifted artist who loved sewing, needlepoint and working on puzzles.
Ruth was a loving and caring person who always saw the best in others. She was loved many and will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her sons, John (Dusty) McKelvie, Wellington, Dee (Berdine) Shannon, Price, Leonard (Valerie) Shannon, Price; step-son, Wayne (Bonnie) Shannon, of Tennessee; loving sisters, Doris Bottoms, Evelyn Pappas, Marie (Tommy) Green, all of Price; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, and a twin sister, Ruby Birch.
Funeral service, Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening from 6 -8: p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
