Spartan softball team suffers disappointing loss

After a disappointing 15–11 opening softball game loss to the Unitah Utes, March 6 at Spartan Field, Head Coach Beau Stoker said, “I’m very happy how our players swung their bats, and ran the bases. We need a little work on defense, but I’m very pleased with our players after being together for just over a week.”
If the Lady Spartan softball players score 11 runs every game they play this year, they’ll be winning a lot more games than they lose. It had to be hard on the Lady Spartans, because they jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings. A couple of miscues in the third allowed the Utes to tie the game.
The game was a slugfest with a couple homers in the top of the final inning being the margin for Unitah. The final box scores were: Emery 11- R, 11-H, 5-E for Unitah 15-R, 16-H, 3-E.
The Lady Spartans travel to St George for a five game tournament this March 14-15 before facing South Sevier at home on March 18. |
