Starr Hal Guymon
HUNTINGTON - Starr Hal Guymon, age 87, our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all, passed away November 21, 2007 from cancer. He was born June 25, 1920 in Huntington, Utah, 1 of 13 children born to Edward Montell and Minerva Mackelprang. He married Madge Johnson July 14, 1943 in Baltimore, Md; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death May 3, 2006.
Dad was a mechanic and cattleman all his life. A veteran of WWII, he served in Patton’s 3rd Army in Europe. He was very active in his community and Church, serving in various callings including elders quorum presidency, high council, and bishop of the Huntington 1st Ward. He served as president of the Huntington-Cleveland Irrigation Co., member of the Water Conservancy and Soil Conservation Districts; loved music and sang with the Huntington Glee Club for over 50 years; president of the cattlemen’s association; long-time member of the Utah Farm Bureau. Dad was a very patriotic, hard-working man of great honesty and integrity. He was honest in all his business dealings. He loved Gentry Mountain where he ran cattle for many years. The way he treated and cared for our dear mother is a beautiful love story. We will miss him dearly.
Hal is survived by children and their spouses: Courtney and Vee Guymon of Huntington; Lamar and Gayla Guymon of Huntington; Kay and David Phillips of Heber City, Vaughn Guymon, Huntington. Survived by 69 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Orilla Ungerman and Maurine Nielsen. Preceded in death by spouse, son Larry; 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services were Nov. 26, 2007 in the Huntington LDS Stake Center. Burial was in the Huntington Cemetery under direction of Fausett Mortuary.

Lorna Davis
ORANGEVILLE - Lorna Lorraine Fail Davis died on November 20, 2007 in Paonia, Colo. after a mercifully short battle with cancer.
Lorna was born on April 28, 1929, daughter of Fred and Vila Fail, in Orangeville, Utah. She grew up there, graduating from South Emery High School and then attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was while working as a secretary for Hadley Transfer & Storage Co. in Salt Lake that she met Donald Davis, a truck driver employed by Mayflower who decided on the spot that she was the only one for him.
Lorna and Don were married on June 9, 1956. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 24, 1960. They made their home in the Salt Lake area until 1974 when they returned to Lorna’s beloved Orangeville. Lorna and Don had only recently moved to Paonia, Colorado to be nearer to family members.
Lorna was very active in the LDS church, and, with Don, served two LDS missions – a welfare mission to Deseret Industries in Burley, Idaho and a family history mission in Salt Lake City. She also worked for many years at the Emery County Courthouse in the Auditor’s Office. Lorna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest wish was that her family continues to love each other. They are all grateful she’s been given the chance to return home with the parents and siblings she has missed so much.
Lorna is survived by her husband, Don Davis of Paonia, Colorado; daughter, Sharon (Scott) Morley, also of Paonia; son, Brent (Collette) Davis of Lehi, Utah; son, Garth (Debbie) Davis of Rock Springs, Wyoming; daughter, Jenny (Steven) Staheli of Goshen, Utah; 13, soon to be 14, grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vaughn Fail, and sister, Cleo Davis, both of Orangeville, Utah.
Funeral services were in the Orangeville LDS Church on November 26 Interment was in the Orangeville Cemetery.
We love you, Mom, Lorna, Grandma, and we’ll be okay. We know you’re where you want to be, but you will be greatly missed.

Helen Giraud
PRICE- Helen Lorraine Lampshire Giraud, age 82, passed away November 17, 2007 with her loving family around her. Her strength, courage, and wisdom was an inspiration to us all.
She is the center of our family.
Daughter of James E. and Esther Jones Lampshire born May 9, 1925 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Lived in Wattis, Utah with her siblings Duane, James, Shirley, Gale and Frankie. She enjoyed sewing with her sister.
She married Emil Giraud, August 1, 1946, shortly after he returned from the War. They spent sixty-one years together in Price, Utah. She took care of everyone she loved. Her family was everything to her. Husband, Emil; children, Greg, Gary (Geri), James, Mike, Jerry (Loni); grandchildren, Gary Dean (Jodi), Brandon (Jenny), Michelle (Jeremy), Gena, Mike, Jennifer (Ray), Jeremy, and Joshua; great grandchildren, Kerrisa, Gavin, Joey, Taylor, Jacob, Cayla, Mackenzie, and Serenitie. She stayed here as long as she could for her family. She in now in a better place. We all love her and will miss her dearly. Special thanks to Tisa at Community Nursing Services Hospice.
Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bremerton, Wash., at a later date.

William Wallace Preston Sr.
SUNNYSIDE - William Wallace Preston Sr., age 83, passed away November 19, 2007 at Castleview Hospital in Price. He was born September 20, 1924 in Sunnyside, Utah to Samuel Leigh and Marion Kays Preston. William’s father the judge of Sunnyside married William and Masel Fern on September 7, 1944 in Sunnyside, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on September 5, 1954.
William was a member of the U.M.W.A. Union and worked as a miner for the Kaiser Steel Mine for 44 years. He was an active member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. He loved fly fishing, bow hunting when he was younger, playing pool at the Senior Citizen Center, and spending time with his family on their various camping trips and the many outings they took together.
He is preceded in death by his wife, brothers and sisters, parents, and grandson, Billie.
He is survived by his six daughters, Sherry Shaff of East Carbon; LaDonna (Neil) Robertson of West Valley City; Kay (Richard) Lewis of East Carbon; Leighann (Larry) Martinez of Sunnyside; Mae Crank of East Carbon; Billie Jean (Guy) Koss of East Carbon; and one son, William Wallace (Sondra) Preston, Jr. of Sunnyside; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Alta Preston.
Funeral Services were November 24, 2007 at the East Carbon LDS Chapel – 145 Grassy Trail Drive. Interment was in the Sunnyside City Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.

Brandon Ori
WELLINGTON- Our loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, Brandon Paul Ori, age 29, passed away November 20, 2007 in Price.
He was born October 2, 1978 in Price to Louis P. and Tina Kellow Ori.
Brandon was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper where he was an altar boy. He graduated Carbon High School in 1997. He was athletic and enjoyed all sports. His number one priority was his family. Brandon enjoyed riding motorcycles, listening to music, and watching movies. He was an avid dog lover. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by his parents, Louis Paul Ori, Wellington; Tina K. (Seth W.) Chiaretta, Price; brother, Christopher Elias Ori, Wellington; sister, Erika N. Ori, Phoenix, AZ; sister in law, Frankie Carol Fausett, Wellington; nieces, Rylee N. Ori, Phoenix, AZ; Patience Ann Andrews, Price; sister in law, Brenda Gentry, Phoenix, AZ; step grandfather, Lewis Chiaretta, Price; step uncle, Christian (Tammy) Chiaretta, Green River, WY; uncle, Noble Lindley, Pocatello, ID; grandma, Evelyn Adam, Pocatello, ID; 13 uncles and aunts; 25 cousins.

Jimmy Stevenson
PRICE-James Harold Stevenson, age 57, passed away November 24, 2007 in Price while surrounded by his family.
He was born June 16, 1950 in Dragerton, Utah to Harold Thomas and Mary Stella Stevenson.
Married Gaile Lorain Anderson, August 16, 1972 in Elko, Nevada.
Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Carbon County. He was a graduate of East Carbon High School Class of 1968, attended CEU where he played basketball for both the high school and the college. He shared a great love for sports and one of his greatest enjoyments was coaching Little League baseball for 12 years. His passion for the New York Yankees, was only exceeded by the joy he shared with his ballplayers and the thrill of taking his team to the Little League World Series in 1989. He enjoyed hunting with his boys and sharing time with his family and friends.
Jimmy was a fourth generation coal miner who worked at Kaiser Steel from 1969 through 1992. He was a retired member of the U.M.W.A. local # 9958 and was elected as the International Auditor in 1992 for the United Mine Workers of America where he served two terms as auditor. He also worked as the U.M.W.A. Safety Representative and organizer for many years. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by his wife, Lorain Stevenson, Price; three sons, one daughter and their spouses, Kade (Becka) Stevenson, Huntington, Casey (Lacey) Stevenson, Vernal, Brandon (Cassidy) Stevenson, Price, Lacey (Kalib) Curtis, Helper; brother, Larry Stevenson, East Carbon; in-laws, James B. (Arline) Anderson, Wellington; brother-in-law, Jim Anderson, Spring Glen; and six loving grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen L. Stevenson; and a brother-in-law, Lonnie Anderson.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, November 28, 2007, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Tuesday evening 7:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
