Orangeville Christmas
in the Park

Orangeville City will have it Christmas celebration on Dec. 1 beginning at 4 p.m. with the second annual chili cook-off. Due to the construction of the Community Center, the cook-off will be held at the new fire station. Enter your favorite chili in the contest at 4 p.m. for judging or come down to taste test from 4-5:30 p.m. for $1 a bowl. The Orangeville City Council will help children make Christmas ornaments from 5-6 p.m. at City Hall and at 6 p.m. in the park there will be donuts and hot chocolate for all as the Emery High School choir entertains with Christmas Carols. Santa will pay a visit to the park at 6:30 p.m. as the Christmas lights celebrate the coming of the season.

The Emery County Gun Club shoot schedule is:

Huntington City Annual
Turkey Trot

The Huntington City Turkey Trot, 5 K Run or Walk with shorter races for kids, will be Nov. 22, Thanksgiving Day at 9 a.m. at the Huntington City Park, corner of Main Street and Center Street. Speech and Hearing
Screenings

The Emery School District conducts annual speech and hearing screening to identify students who might need further evaluation of their speech or hearing. Students who fail the initial hearing screening will be given a re-test in three to four weeks. Screening is scheduled with the schools involved and takes place anytime during the school year. District Speech-Language Pathologist administers the tests. All district preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, new students and any referrals will be screened for hearing. Pre-kindergarten students will be screened during kindergarten registration and 3rd grade students will be screened for speech only. You must tell your school’s secretary if you do not want your child to receive speech or hearing screening tests.

Food Handler’s Class

There will be a Food Handler’s class held Dec. 13 at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Southeastern Utah Department of Health, 25 West Main Street in Castle Dale. For more information call 381-2252.

Relay for Life Volunteers Needed

The American Cancer Society is looking for motivated and enthusiastic volunteers who would be willing to serve on the organizing committee for the Emery County Relay for Life event to be held in June 2008. Soldiers Addresses Needed

American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan.
The Legion has a program called “Operation Home Support” which sends packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County Residents with the name and addresses of your loved ones that are serving.
They need packages from “Operation Home Support” to let them know they aren’t forgotten and that we care and we support them. Please contact us if you have a family member serving. Call Jan Hess 384-2753 or Dixie Swasey at 384-3172.

Bible Study

Bible studies are being conducted by The Seventh-day Adventist of Emery County on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 pm at the home of Robert and Elsie Law. 1065 E 300 N Bench Road Ferron. Everyone is welcome to come! For information call 384-2424 or 384-2447.
