
Janice Mounteer recognized as employer of the year
Janice Mounteer, owner and manager of the Star Theatre and Fun Center Grill in Huntington was awarded the Extraordinary Exemplary Employer of the year award on Oct. 4 at the Provo Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.
She won the Small Business award from the State of Utah at the Choose to Work Conference. Convergys Corporation, with offices all over the state won the large business of the year award.
Names were submitted for nomination from all over the state and Star Theatre and Fun Center Grill was chosen as the one that made the most impact on working with employees with disabilities.
Over the past two years the Mounteer’s have given 10 individuals with this qualification a chance of being able to work and progress in competitive employment. Janice Mounteer was congratulated by Executive Director Donald R. Uchida for the State of Utah Vocational Rehabilitation Services, along with Carol Rogers the Southeastern District Director of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Dorothy Carter, the Choose to Work Placement specialist for this area, was given the honor of introducing Star Theatre and Fun Center Grill, where a little of what this employer has done for the individuals in rural Utah preceded the award.

Combined Junior High Concert
Canyon View and San Rafael Junior High Schools combined for a fall concert Oct. 2 at Canyon View Junior High where a near capacity crowd gathered in the commons area of the school to be inspired by the talent of the students, their teachers and accompanists. Conductors Hans Baantjer and David Bird led the choirs in numbers that entertained, inspired and delighted the audience. Accompanied by Eileen Lofthouse and Marilee Cox, the junior high students were warmly received by an audience of family and friends.

Clawson and Cleveland residents
selected for Council on Aging positions
A resident of Clawson and Cleveland were selected to fill vacancies on the Emery County Council on Aging during the Oct. 2 meeting of the Emery County Commission.
Aleen Riley of Clawson and Jedie Richens of Cleveland were selected as two of the seven members on the council.
The Emery County Council on Aging is an advisory council that repots to the county commission on the Emery County Aging Program, which is the focal point for senior activities in the county, and the senior nutrition program for the county. |
