Dian Jewkes

HELPER-Our sweetheart, wife, mother, and grandmother, Dian R.Jewkes, age 67, was called home February 16, 2008 at Utah Valley Regional Hospital. She left peacefully while surrounded by her family after battling kidney and heart problems for the past few years.
She was born in Provo, Utah on January 1, 1941 to Clayton William and Maureen Clark Smith.
Married Thomas Haycock, later divorced. Later married Ronald K. Jewkes, September 21, 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and just about anything outdoors. Although Dian was plagued with health problems the last few years, she still enjoyed life as much as her health would allow. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Dian is survived by her husband, Ronald K. Jewkes, Helper; daughter, Virginia R. (Tylen) Overgard, Worland, WY, son, Clark T. (Angie) Haycock, West Valley, daughter, Gaylene (Bobby) Appleby, Price; four-stepchildren, Ronald W. (Shawna) Jewkes, Price, Terri Lynn & Jeff Young, Helper, Carole Ann (Troy) Davis, Valentine, NB, J. Brian (Carrie) Jewkes, Helper; sister, Mary Etta Taylor, Salt Lake City; brother, John W. (Janet) Smith, Helper; and 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, Chris Appleby.
Funeral service, Friday, February 22, 2008, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.

James Noyes

PRICE - Jim Noyes, age 61, died February 11, 2008 in Price, Utah. He was born September 13, 1946 in Price, Utah to James R. Noyes and Leah Virginia Henrie. He married Judy K. Bowers on November 19, 1995, in Las Vegas, NV.
From an early age, Jim worked as a ranch hand on Antelope Island and The Wilcox Ranch. He joined the Marines at age 17, too young to even sign himself in. He was loyal to his country as member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam as the Tank Commander of the 1st Tank Battalion as a Corporal, where he was highly decorated with a Gold Star for his outstanding performance of duty. He was also awarded the Meritorious Mast and three purple hearts. During his life Jim worked in and managed many coal mines including; Deer Creek, Soldier Creek, and was Superintendent at Consol. He enjoyed the outdoors where he had many hobbies including; hunting, and fishing. He was an avid trophy hunter, and hunted all over the world. He rode bulls until he was 50. He loved Budweiser, and he always did it HIS WAY.
He is survived by, his wife, Judy Noyes; 7 children, Jim (Kim) Noyes of Price, UT, Patty (Phil) Pappas of Price, UT, Chelle (Gary) Hinkins of Price, UT, Jenny (Cory) Mortensen of Rock Springs, WY, Kirk (Dawn) Hanna, of Surprise, AZ, Trudy Madrigal of Price, UT, and Patrick Strey of Price, UT; 12 grandchildren; and three sisters, Doreen (Willie) Lopan, of Price, UT, Lynette Noyes, of Federalway, WA, and Judy (Roger) Graham of Rice, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary (680 East 100 South – Price, Utah). A viewing will be Wednesday, February 13, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. also at Fausett Mortuary in Price and from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Wellington City Cemetery. Services are under the care of Fausett Mortuary.
Jimmy you are our husband, our dad, brother, mentor, hero, and dear friend. We will all miss you!

Evelyn O’Berto

PRICE - Evelyn O’Berto age 71 passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Castle Country Care Center in Price. Evelyn was born October 18, 1936 in Price to Pete and Agnes Vogrenic Varellas.
Evelyn grew up and attended school in Price, graduating from Carbon High School. She married John B O’Berto in Helper, together they were blessed with two children. Evelyn had the opportunity of staying at home and raising them, and instilled in them the value of hard work and integrity. Evelyn worked as a secretary for different lawyers in Price and later for Job Service for over twenty years.
Evelyn will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend, who was always will to help others.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents.
Evelyn is survived by her son: Gary O’Berto of Nashville, TN; daughter: Jackie O’Berto and Scott Van Rooy of Christiana, TN; and two grandchildren: Ashley and Abby Van Rooy.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, where friends may come to share memories with the family. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.

Kieran Hope Zmerzlikar

CASTLE DALE - Our precious tiny angel Kieran Hope has gone home to her Heavenly Father on February 15, 2008, to watch over us with other family members.
She was born January 18, 2008 in Price to Derek George Zmerzlikar and Mary Victoria Brinkerhoff Bertuzzi.
Kieran brought her family together as a whole and she’s the light of our lives. She provided us much love and joy in her short time on earth. We will always love and miss her sweet spirit, till we meet her again.
She is survived by her loving parents, Derek and Mary, big brother and sister, Jaymin and Makieya, all of Castle Dale; grandparents, John & Merrilee Zmerzlikar, Helper, Gary & Carla Brinkerhoff, Salem, Sandra Brinkerhoff, Milan, New Mexico; great-grandparents, Florence Poulos, Aurora, UT, Ramona Zmerzlikar, Helper, Rae Brinkerhoff, Huntington; three aunts and one uncle, Tara Zmerzlikar, Tonya Brinkworth, Sheriden Hewitt, and Laramie DeMott.
She was preceded in death by her uncles, Terrence Zmerzlikar, Jerry Wayman, Tracy Poulos, Scott Brinkerhoff; great-grandparents, Jesse Brinkerhoff, Harold (Lillian) Wykert, Robert Zmerzlikar and George Poulos.
Funeral service, Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 11:00 a.m., Helper LDS Stake Center. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Corene Huff

ARKANSAS/EAST CARBON,UT-Our loving mother and grandmother Corene Crossno Huff, age 89, passed away February 14, 2008 under the loving care of her family.
She was born November 20, 1918 in Denning, Arkansas to Samuel Jasper and Cora Ledgerwood Crossno and she was the last of 11 children in her family.
Corene graduated from Altus High School. She met Junior Gervis Huff and they married on February 1, 1938 in Clarksville, Arkansas.
Corene and Junior lived in Clarksville, Superior, Wyoming, moved back to Clarksville, moved to Dragerton, Utah and retired back in Denning, Arkansas where they had a wonderful home. She enjoyed working in her garden.
Corene’s main love was for her family and she enjoyed doing anything to make them happy. She was well known for her wonderful meals and she would feed anyone that crossed her doorstep. She was a beautiful seamstress, who loved making dresses, coats, formals, and dance costumes.
Corene was a devout Christian and a active member of the Living Water Baptist Church in Sunnyside, Utah. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and while residing in Denning she was a member of the Altus Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by one son and one daughter, Bo Huff, Carolyn (Chuck) Abeyta, both of East Carbon; 12 grandchildren, Terri, Doug, Sherri, Shelli, Lisa, Michelle, Amy, Kendall, James, Maddy, Junior, Becky; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Ada Jean Huff; ten brothers and sisters; and her husband Gervis who passed away on December 15, 2005.
Funeral service, Tuesday, February 19, 2008, 11:00 a.m., Living Water Baptist Church in Sunnyside. Family will be at the church Tuesday one hour prior to service. Corene will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Valley View Cemetery in Sunnyside, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.

Bessie Milovich

MISSOURI VALLEY,IA/PRICE- Bessie Milovich, age 83, passed away peacefully February 9, 2008 in Missouri Valley.
She was born to Steve and Mary Zamantakis on February 9, 1925 in Sunnyside, Utah. She married John Milovich on April 3, 1960 in Price; he died on November 23, 2001.
Bessie lived most of her life in Carbon County where she worked as a hairdresser for well over 45 years and the past 5 years at the Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, IA., where she had many friends. She loved to cook for her family, garden and visit with friends and family.
She is survived by her son, John Milovich, San Francisco, Mark (Diana) Milovich, Missouri Valley, IA, and Luke Milovich, Hermosa Beach, CA; grandchildren, MJ, Elliot, Miranda and Seth Milovich of Missouri Valley; brothers, Mark (Jo) Zamantakis, Denver, CO, George (Ellie) Zamantakis, Helper, Mike (Lydia) Zamantakis, Helper; sisters, Aggie Annis, San Diego, CA; Mary Hatzidakis, Ralito, CA, Christal (Sam) Coganis, American Fork.

Veronica Haycock

SPRING GLEN-Our sweetheart Veronica Podbevsek Haycock was called Home on Valentine’s Day February 14, 2008 at the age of 84.
She was born in Winter Quarters, Utah to Joseph and Veronica Parrish Podbevsek on November 8, 1923.
Married Harry B. Haycock, June 25, 1949 in Carbonville, Utah; he passed away on April 20, 2001.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her youth, Veroni worked at the post office in Scofield and in 1962 graduated from Central Utah Vocational School in Provo. After graduation, her skills led her to Chicago to further her education in nursing. Upon returning, she worked at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo until her retirement.
Veroni enjoyed the outdoors, going on walks, visiting, and working alongside her husband at Carbon High School. Her warm embrace, big smile, and genuine concern brought great joy to those around her. She made many lasting friendships and her memories we’ll cherish forever. “We Love You Veroni”.
Survived by her sister, Alice (Paul) Schmidt, Price; sister-in-law, Joy Podbevsek, Scofield, loving niece, Kim (Mike) Erkkila, Scofield; and numerous other nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “Aunt Veroni”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Joe, Louie, Frank and Stan Podbevsek; sisters, Mary Strang and Frances Elzey.
Funeral service, Monday, February 18, 1008, 2:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Monday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.

Darlene Baird

PRICE-Our loving mother, grandmother, and dear friend, Nancy Darlene Lawley Baird, passed away suddenly February 13, 2008 at Castleview Hospital at the age of 78.
She was born January 30, 1930 in Price, Utah to John Richard and Ella Hamilton Lawley.
Married James Allen Baird, February 10, 1947 in Standardville, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 5, 1963. Together they shared 45 wonderful years before his untimely passing on April 2, 1992.
Darlene was an active member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. She was a longtime resident of Carbon County and a dedicated employee of the College of Eastern Utah. She was a warm and wonderful person who brought great joy to those around her. She enjoyed caring for others and spoiling her family with excellent cooking and baking.
She loved family outings, picnic’s, camping, and most of all taking afternoon rides with her husband. Her family was the center of her life and she enjoyed every moment she shared with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, JoAnn Cotterman, West Valley, Janet (Joseph) Maestas, Price, Allen (Elizabeth) Baird, Castle Dale, Dave (Elsie) Baird, Price; son-in-law, Tom Memmott, Salt Lake City; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jeanie Memmott; three sisters, one brother, two granddaughters, one great-grandson; and a son-in-law.
Funeral service Monday, February 18, 2008, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.

Charles Ray Forston

EAST CARBON - Charles Ray Forston, age 66, of East Carbon died January 18, 2008 at his home. A graveside service and interment was held Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Carbonville City Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
