Job Fair

The Department of Workforce Services, in partnership with the College of Eastern Utah, Price City, Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, Carbon County School District, and Vocational Rehabilitation, are holding a Job Fair on March 13. This is a convenient way to recruit new employees, promote your company and products, and network with companies.
The Job Fair will be held on March 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the College of Eastern Utah, Jennifer Leavitt Student Center, on the corner of 500 North 300 East, Price, Utah 84501.

The Job Fair is free to the public.

Emery Town Dog Licenses
and Rabies Clinic


2008 dog licenses are available at the Emery Town Office. Fees are $50 for a kennel license; $15 for an unaltered dog and $5 for an altered dog. A rabies vaccination clinic will be held at the Emery Town Community Center on Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to Noon.

The Sound of Music

Emery County High School, in partnership with the Emery County Community Theater, will present the musical production of The Sound of Music on Feb. 28, 29 and March 1 at 7 p.m.
The play will be presented using a unique concept in theater productions; it will not have any scenery or backdrop. According to Neal Peacock, director, the audience will “supply the scenery with your mind and imagination.” There will be a full orchestra and the audience will sing along with the cast.
Leading parts of Baron Von Trapp and Maria will be played by Jacob Barnett and Tricia Erickson.

Huntington Library Now
Open on Saturday

Saturday hours are now available at the Huntington Library from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Emery County Libraries hope that people will take advantage of this change. The Huntington Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Castle Dale Library is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The rest of the libraries in the county are open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

No-till Drill Workshop

There will be a No-till Drill Workshop and Dinner on Feb. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ferron City Fair Grounds. The drill will be on display beginning at 4 p.m. Information on sunflower and oil seed production will be presented at 5 p.m. by Jeff Berman of San Juan Bioenergy. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the cost for dinner will be $10 per person. A workshop will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Featured speaker will be Robert Newhall from Utah State University. Emery County Republican Party

The Emery County Republican Party will have a Lincoln Day Breakfast Feb. 16, 8 a.m., at the Museum of the San Rafael in Castle Dale (note this is a change from the Senior Citizen’s Center). The governor, attorney general, state auditor, House District 2, senate district and other candidates are expected to speak at this breakfast.

Buckhorn Archery Club Winter League

The Buckhorn Archer’s winter league is under way. If you have a bow and some arrows, come and join the fun. It will get you out of the house and off the couch for some fun once a week. You will also get in shooting shape for next year’s archery bow hunt. It is something your entire family can do together. Plus it is just plain fun!
Registration is still $20 per person, or $30 for a family. You must purchase insurance and the cost is $7 per year. If you are helping a young shooter you also have to purchase the insurance even if you are not shooting a bow. With no exception, everyone who is participating must have insurance. If you are a person 18 or younger and are still in school the nightly fee is free for you, but you still have to pay the registration fee and for insurance. Food Handler’s Class

There will be a Food Handlers Class on: Feb. 21 and March 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the SEUDHD, 25 West Main Street in Castle Dale. For more information call 381-2252.

Holiday Spring Fest 2008

The College of Eastern Utah Cosmetology Department sponsors the Scholarship Fundraiser Holiday Spring Fest 2008 Extravaganza, a community wide event featuring businesses that cater to weddings and special events. This year’s event will be held Feb. 8-9 at the Jennifer Leavitt Multipurpose Room at CEU.
This year’s show has been expanded to include vendors for prom, Valentines Day and graduation. Featured businesses will showcase a variety of products and services, everything from gowns, accessories and jewelry to decorators, catering and food services. A fashion show featuring prom and wedding gowns and tuxedos will be shown at 6 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 1 p.m. on Feb. 9. For more information call Debbie Prichard at 613-5302.

San Rafael Classic Triathlon

The San Rafael Classic Triathlon will be held June 28 at the Huntington State Park staring at 7:30 a.m. In its first running the event is being organized by the Emery County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and will include a half-mile swim across Huntington Lake, followed by a 15 mile bike ride and then a 5K run, ending back at the lake. Vendors Wanted

The Emery County Fair is now accepting applications for Food and General Vendors for the Emery County Fair, which will be held on July 30, 31 and Aug. 1, 2. To be an exclusive food vendor you must have your application into the Emery County Recreation office by March 21. You may pick up an application at the Emery County Recreation office, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale at the hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. or visit the website at www.emerycounty.com/fair/vendor.
